Our University offers an educational proposal centered on the departmental model and on the figure of the professor-researcher, who directs the teaching-learning processes; links teaching and research; develops rigorous cutting-edge scientific work and actively participates in artistic and cultural promotion as part of its efforts to ensure a solid training of professionals from the multidisciplinary.

 

Students pursue their undergraduate or graduate studies in an equitable environment that seeks to promote open approaches, critical analysis, and respect for the diversity of opinions.

 

To guarantee this environment, the UAM has a University Rights Ombudsman and specialized gender equality units, which promote a culture of peace; integration; mainstreaming of gender perspective, and eradication of gender-based violence.

UAM offers 83 undergraduate and 119 graduate programs in all fields of knowledge and it has a student body of 61,000 people.

 

 

The close link among the substantive functions of teaching, research, preservation and dissemination of culture, and communication of knowledge established by our educational model, promotes a solid and rigorous scientific and technical training; in addition to the acquisition of citizen values and skills that allow the acknowledgment of the scientific, humanistic, artistic and cultural contributions from our students.

 

As a result, the professionals trained in this house of studies can offer answers and solutions to large-scale national problems that affect society in all aspects of life.

Responsible with Mexico’s development

The academic staff, over two thousand 900 people, performs an outstanding task of generating knowledge for the resolution of national, regional, and local problems; It also links teaching and research through the formation of multi, trans and interdisciplinary areas and networks, and scientific programs.

 

Among the most outstanding networks and programs are the Water Research Network; the Research Network on Violence; the Research Network in Arts, Sciences, Humanities and Citizenship; the Interdisciplinary Human Development Research Program in Chiapas; the Sustainability Research Program; the Childhood Program, and the University Program for Metropolitan Studies.

 

The professors-researchers carry out initiatives that meet the needs of the population surrounding the university campuses, for example, the services of the Law Firm in the Azcapotzalco area; the “Casa de Las Bombas” in Iztapalapa, and the Netzahualcóyotl, San Lorenzo, Tepepan and Tláhuac dental clinics, as well as in the Iztapalapa Campus.

Knowledge and culture communication are transversal tasks of university work.

 

In 2021, it made 411 publications, digital exhibitions, seminars, editorial presentations, book fairs, workshops, conferences, and discussion tables, among other academic and cultural activities.

 

 

The new Knowledge Communication Office seeks that the knowledge generated by the academic body and the students, from the basic and social sciences, the humanities and engineering, become the domain of the citizenry, through multidirectional models of communication, scientific dissemination and culture, horizontal collaborative actions and inter and transdisciplinary projects.
